why is it that when i shoot my TV or computer monitor with my camera (digital8), there appears to be lines moving from top to bottom of the screen on playback?

is there any (hopfully easy) way around this??

It's because the camera is capturing the screen redrawing (which is undetectable to the naked human eye). Play around with the camera's shutter speed. I think you'll be wanting to slow it down.

Also, some cameras have a 'clearscan' function which allows for fine tuning of the shutter speed - designed specifically to overcome the screen flicker problem.

If you can, why not capture the TV image and superimpose it in post (eg capture the video to the PC and use aftereffects type stuff)?
Also, do the same with the computer image (I'm sure you can create a movie file with a software package, the name of which escapes me...)?
